Reference Formatting Guidelines
If a publication has up to four authors, all of them should be listed. If there are more than four authors, list the first three followed by “et al.” In foreign sources, periods are not used after initials, and a comma is placed before “et al.” In abbreviated journal names, a period is placed only at the end of the title. In the citation format “Year;Volume(Issue):pages–pages,” no spaces should follow punctuation marks. The presence of a DOI must be checked and included (e.g., doi: 10.1074/jbc.r112.438382). No additional information should be included beyond what is specified.
In-text citations must be enclosed in square brackets and numbered strictly in the order in which they appear in the text.
